WASHINGTON –ITI, the global voice of the tech sector, commended the passage of the Equality Act, which cleared the House of Representatives earlier today. Ahead of today’s vote, ITI joined a letter to House leadership, signed by more than 60 trade and business associations, calling on lawmakers to approve the landmark legislation, which would provide a federal standard that protects all employees and job-seekers from discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identity.

“Ensuring that every qualified individual has equal access to job opportunities is critical to the success of our companies and the strength of our communities,” said Jason Oxman, ITI’s President and CEO. “By passing the Equality Act, the House of Representatives brings the United States a step closer to making that access a reality and marks important progress in the ongoing effort to fight discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identity in the workplace. We urge the Senate to follow the House’s lead and advance this critical bill.”

ITI joined a coalition of businesses in announcing its support for the Equality Act in March.
