WASHINGTON -- Today, ITI, the global voice of the tech sector, applauded the U.S. House of Representatives’ passage of the American Dream and Promise Act of 2019, which would establish a permanent legislative solution to the Deferred Action Childhood Arrival (DACA) program:

“Dreamers want to contribute their talent and entrepreneurial spirit to advance the U.S. economy,”said Jason Oxman, ITI President and CEO. “These young men and women are our friends, neighbors, and colleagues, and are overdue for a permanent legislative solution to ensure they remain a part of American communities. Today, the U.S. House of Representatives brought the United States a critical step closer to cementing the legal status for these Americans. We urge the U.S. Senate to advance this effort quickly to end this debate once and for all.”

Dreamers contribute significantly to the U.S. economy: more than 97 percent of DACA recipients are in school or in the workforce; at least 72 percent of the top 25 Fortune 500 companies count DACA recipients among their employees; 5 percent started their own business; 65 percent have purchased a vehicle; and 16 percent have purchased their first home.
